General Class Description

Classes are appropriate for ALL LEVELS. Classes begin with warm-up movements (pratapana) and breath awareness (pranayama) to prepare you for postures (asana). The heart of each class is a sequence of postures that stretch, strengthen, and balance your body. Each class ends with deep relaxation and meditation.

Prenatal Yoga
Prenatal classes are taught using The Barnes Method of Yoga for Two™, applying Anusara Yoga’s Universal Principles of Alignment so that women can create stability, build a strong foundation, and become comfortable in their changing bodies as they open to grace and celebrate new life. Students learn postures that eliminate the common discomforts of pregnancy, postures that aid in labor and delivery as well as  postpartum.

Mom & Baby Yoga
(For moms and babies 6-weeks to crawling)
This is an all-levels postpartum yoga class specifically designed to strengthen your body after giving birth, and to nurture the bond between you and your baby as you practice yoga together. We will focus on alleviating the aches and pains of the postpartum body, strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and practicing relaxation techniques.  Join the community and meet other new moms and babies!

Kripalu Yoga Teacher Association Member

Christina Dubin, MS Ed, RYT
Christina Dubin, a resident of West Newbury, is a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, Prenatal/ Postpartum Yoga Instructor and a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance.  What began as a way to strengthen her physical body quickly evolved into a journey of self-discovery.

In 2008, she received her certification from Kripalu in order to share this life-changing practice with others. When not on the mat, she is at the potter's wheel, and believes that there is a strong parallel between creating art and practicing yoga. "Whether molding clay on the wheel, body in asana or mind in meditation, one must be centered and work from their authentic self to create something beautiful and true." She strongly believes that everyone can benefit from yoga and that as a daily practice, yoga allows us to ride the waves of sensation that we experience each day.

Christina holds a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Masters of Education from Simmons College.  She worked professionally as a high school educator and art department chair for five years prior to becoming a yoga teacher.  This classroom experience informs her role as a yoga teacher, as she individualizes instruction by offering options so that each student has his or her own accessible experience.
